WHAT: Orthodox Mission Weekend 2016
This weekend will be a reunion of all past ODO volunteers as well as an opportunity for new members to participate in real urban outreach. We will live out our Faith in real and tangible ways by bringing service and prayer into the neighborhood. Participants in our Mission Work Day will choose from among several activities, including work in the ODO community garden--Jardín de los Santos--helping to refurbish the ODO Community Center, building and icon corner, helping neighbors beautify their homes, picking up litter in the neighborhood, and more.

Registrants have the option to choose from several levels of participation:

1. Saturday and Sunday: This includes Saturday work day, evening Vespers, ODO reunion dinner, Sunday morning Liturgy, Coffee hour fellowship, and ODO Community Picnic. Registration fee includes all meals and an ODO t-shirt.

2. Satuday evening only: This includes evening Vespers, ODO reunion dinner only.

3. Sunday only: This includes Sunday morning Liturgy, Coffee hour fellowship, and ODO Community Picnic.

WHEN:
Saturday and Sunday, June 25 and 26, 2016

WHERE:
Southwest Detroit in the neighborhood surrounding Ss Peter and Paul Cathedral.

WHO:
All current and former ODO volunteers--including clergy and laity--as well as anyone interested in serving with ODO for the first time.

Our schedule for the weekend looks like this:

Saturday, June 25
  • 7:30-8:30    Registration
  • 8:30-9:00    Morning prayers
  • 9:00-9:30    Welcome/Mission Meditation
  • 9:30-10:00    Work group assignments
  • 10:00-12:30    Work session
  • 12:30-1:00    Lunch at worksite
  • 1:00-3:00    Work Session
  • 3:00-4:00    Clean-up/Refreshments (Half-day Arrivals)
  • 4:00-5:00    Great Vespers
  • 5:00-6:30    Reflections/group interaction/speakers
  • 6:00        Dinner picnic

Sunday, June 26

  • 10:00-11:30        Divine Liturgy
  • 11:30-12:30    Coffee hour/Informal Speaker Program
  • 1:00-2:00    Prep ODO Community Meal
  • 2:00-4:30    Picnic Meal-ODO Dinner service
  • 4:30-5:30    Clean-up and departure

RELEASE FORMS
All participants under 18 years of age: You must have all three forms signed by a parent or legal guardian and mail them to ODO prior to June 10, 2016.

: You may sign the forms when you arrive at the event.
